Segmentation

Build dynamic customer audiences with visual rules.

The Segmentation module enables businesses to create dynamic customer audiences based on behavioral, transactional, and profile-based conditions. Segments can be reused across campaigns, workflows, and automation scenarios.

Segments are evaluated automatically. Customers enter or leave a segment whenever they match—or no longer match—the defined conditions.

Segment list

The Segment List is the central place to review and manage saved audiences. Use search to find a segment, and use the Dependent Segments and Used Segments filters to understand how an audience relates to other segments. Select New Segment to start a new audience definition.

The Segment List shows each segment's status, dependencies, use by other segments, and most recent update.

Available features

  • Create reusable customer segments with a visual rule builder.
  • Combine multiple conditions with logical AND and OR operators.
  • Build segments using customer behavior, profile attributes, events, purchases, cart activity, and custom properties.
  • Create dependent or nested segments by referencing existing segments.
  • Enable or disable a segment without deleting its configuration.
  • View the customers currently matching a segment in real time.
  • Reuse segments across Email, WhatsApp, In-App, Web Campaigns, and Workflow Journeys.

Build segment rules

Use the visual rule builder to define the conditions that determine membership. Add one or more rules, then connect them with AND or OR operators to create the audience logic your campaign requires.

The rule library on the left groups available conditions by type, including general, predefined, privacy, and wishlist rules. Drag or add the conditions that apply to your use case, choose an operator, and provide the required value. You can create additional groups when the audience needs separate sets of conditions.

This fictional example combines a custom segment value, cart abandonment, and a wishlist date rule with AND logic.

Nested segments

Create dependent segments by referencing existing segments as part of a larger audience definition. This allows you to build more specific audiences from existing customer groups without recreating their rules.

You can also enable or disable a segment without deleting its configuration. Disabling a segment preserves its rules and details so it can be reactivated later.

Segment details

Each segment provides a detailed view that includes:

  • Segment information and status.
  • Creation date.
  • Dependencies with other segments.
  • A visual representation of the segment rules.
  • A live list of customers currently included in the segment.
  • Customer lookup and analysis for segment members.

This enables marketers to build highly targeted audiences and ensure campaigns are delivered only to the most relevant customers.

Review matching customers

Select the Customers tab in a segment to review the customers who currently meet its rules. Search the list to locate a matching profile, or select Analysis to investigate that customer's activity.
